Annie Marie Howard Byrd: fiddle, accordion, lead vocals, song writer, arranger, band leader

Annie Marie, from Houston, Texas has been performing professionally since she was 12. She toured Europe, the US, and Canada with various groups where her scorching vocals and funky fiddle virtuosity won her many fans. She paid her dues playing fiddle for numerous country dances throughout the West and was lead vocalist for the Smokin’ Section jazz band for 5 years. In 1993, the West Coast Cajun& Zydeco Music & Dance Association presented her with both the Rising Star Award and the Best Original Zydeco Song award for writing “Where You Is?”. In 1996 she received the Queen Ida Guillory Women in Music Award and in 1997 an award for her original song, “Don’t Let It Get You!!”. Annie also played fiddle and toured with Queen Ida and her Zydeco Band. Annie was recently recognized by the California Friends of Louisiana French Music for her ongoing support and promotion of Bay Area Cajun and Zydeco music both as the band leader of Tee Fee and as a Cajun Fiddler.

Annie Marie is starting a new project along with some members of Tee Fee. This band will feature Annie's originals along with originals from other band members and will focus on the blues genre with a funkier sound. Kelvin Dixon: drums,vocals

Kelvin received his formal music training under scholarship at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He has played with John Lee Hooker, Charles Brown, Otis Rush, Rufus Thomas, Carla Thomas and Irma Thomas, toured and recorded with Sylvester, Two Tons of Fun (Weathergirls), Tom Mazzolini's Blues Cavalcade, Otis Rush, Lady Bianca, and Joe Louis Walker among others. Kelvin's Texas-Louisiana roots come through loud and clear with his soulful singing and that heavy swamp groove that makes you want toget up and dance.

 

Linda Schmidt: bass, background vocals

Linda Schmidt, 6' tall in hat & boots, began her cajun-zydeco career under the tutelage of bassist-accordionist Billy Wilson and the late, great accordionist Danny Poullard. Band credits include bassist with Motor Dude Zydeco, California Cajun Orchestra, and rhythm guitarist for the Bayou Pon Pon trio. In 1996 she won the Queen Ida Guillory Women in Music Award. From time to time she can be seen playing rubboard and is learning the piano key accordion. As co-founder, manager, publicist, and bassist for Tee Fee Linda provides the foundation for future gigs and great dancing!

 

Maureen Coyle: rubboard, vocals, accordion

Maureen has been performing since she was 23. She has played percussion, sung, and recorded for many San Francisco Bay Area artists. She was a key member in local avant-garde group The Bunyups, fronted several local blues bands, and has been guest vocalist with the Bertol Brothers. Maureen's dazzling vocals add excitement and depth, both in her duets with Annie and in her harmony work, and she keeps it hot with her rock solid rubboard.

 

Kevin Suto: Guitar, background vocals

Kevin has been a Bay Area guitarist for over twenty years, having played and studied with a wide variety of artists including members of the punk group Rancid, East Bay rapper Reggie Reg Rock Skeeter, and guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani.
